Activity 2: North and South

I live in Kaikohekohe.
Kaikohekohe has a statue of the Maori warrior Hone Heke. Hone Heke Pokai was a powerful ngapuhi leader. Kaikohekohe is rjust 10 minutes away from ohaeawai, and ohaeawai is where my school is when I was a Yr 6, and Ohaeawai is the war was at the red church. Kai meaning to 'eat' and kohekohe meaning 'a tree.'

  1. Kia ora again Leah!

How lucky are you to live in the beautiful Kaikohe!
I really appreciate how you have taken the time to research these facts and share them with me. I have learnt something new today so I thank you for that!

Did you know Hone Heke was one of the first chiefs to sign the Treaty of Waitangi? My iwi is ngapuhi, so all these facts are really relevant to me!

What is your favourite thing to do in your town? Can you describe to me what it looks like so I can paint a picture in my mind?

Keep up the awesome work, I am really looking forward to reading more of your blog posts! Don't forget you can earn extra points by commenting on your fellow peers posts. These need to be positive, thoughtful and helpful comments that are 3 sentences long.

    Cheers,
    Georgia E
